![]() There was plenty of parking and the distillery was easy to find (just follow Frenchmen Street). Everyone went away happy! We chose to drive to the distillery but I understand you can also take a shuttle. We tried the clear rum, the amber rum aged in bourbon barrels, then my favorite, the spiced rum. The namesake menu item is grilled on hickory wood and plated with Louisiana crawfish and tasso ham. We learned some New Orleans history and about the flooding of the site during Katrina. A lively and dependable seafood spot in the middle of the chaos of Bourbon Street, Red Fish Grill is owned by Ralph Brennan of the famous Brennan family of restaurateurs. Not only that, we found out that this distillery is housed in a 150 year old former cotton warehouse and was founded by a local artist whose works you can see displayed. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical. ![]() Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Put your dancing shoes on, a secret New Orleans is calling and your host already knows the moves. The first time we did this tour it seemed like an extension of the Bourbon Trail in KY and the Whisky Trail in TN-just the logical thing to do.
